Happily Ever After

After a fantastic wedding and honeymoon, it's now time to sit back and enjoy some video and photos. The wedding video, shot by a few friends on a Flip and a digital camera, is here. The password is where Miyuki is from.

These friends took a bunch of fantastic photos and were nice enough to put them online (although a lot of them will require Facebook-friend status): Jake, Bob, Hugh, Julie, Ingrid, Alex, Nikki, and Jon,

Our Story

Union Square 1 Mathew and Miyuki's first date was on February 25, 2006 at the Uptown Lounge in Chicago. Mathew thought he talked too much about his upcoming television purchase and Miyuki thought she talked too much in general. They had a good time regardless, and Miyuki soon left for an extended business trip. When Miyuki returned, they were both a bit surprised when they went out again, and then again, and again. Mathew surprised Miyuki by inviting her to a concert where he was singing with his friends' band Canasta but failed to mention that his sister, step-sister and a very large number of his friends would be there, although he did earn the nickname Rockstar among Miyuki's coworkers. Miyuki's friends surprised Mathew one night by cornering him and demanding to know his intentions. At some point, they fell in love. (And Miyuki convinced Mathew to finally paint his condo.)

In February 2007, they went on their first vacation together. They spent a long weekend in New York, and had such a good time they eventually made other trips to Vienna, Zurich, Tokyo, Kyoto and San Francisco.

Miyuki moved in with Mathew (and Grendel and Beowulf) over Labor Day weekend of 2007. Mathew proposed in September 2008, and they were married at 5:00 pm on June 20, 2009 at the Glessner House Museum in Chicago, Illinois.
